Originally opened in 1884 on the site where Greeneville’s DeWoody Tavern stood for over a century, the General Morgan Inn is east Tennessee’s premier example of railroad era-inspired architecture. Designed with a late Victorian aesthetic, the Inn served as a social and economic hub for northeast Tennessee, combining classic elements of comfort, service, and graceful Southern hospitality. An extensive restoration, including the addition of a new conference center completed in 1996, returned the hotel to its original beauty and purpose. The jewel of Greeneville’s Main Street, the General Morgan Inn features full-service dining, upscale amenities, and boutique shops, all within a short walk to the President Andrew Johnson National Historic Site and Homestead.
