The Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza boasts an ideal location just two blocks from the Santa Fe Plaza and within walking distance of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the Sweeney Community Convention Center, and shopping and dining options. The hotel captures the heritage and romance of the Southwest in a boutique hotel experience. Built in 1625, the hacienda originally belonged to Padre Ramon Ortiz, a member of one of Santa Fe’s founding families. In 1973, Hilton acquired, restored, and expanded the hacienda while preserving its historic features. The three luxury casitas are built within the adobe walls of the 17th-century coach house featuring planked ceilings, exposed brick, Colonial furnishings, and a traditional kiva fireplace.

Discover

  • Discover the brilliant Pueblo-style architecture of this wonderful historic hotel. The Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza was originally established as a self-contained Colonial estate known as a “hacienda” during the early 17th century.
  • Admire the historical character of the Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza. Among the most historic structures in all of Santa Fe, the building once served as the home for the prominent Ortiz family. Perhaps its most prolific resident was Ramon Ortiz, a patriotic priest who was heavily involved in the Mexican government during the 1800s.
  • Stroll through the world-famous Santa Fe Plaza just beyond the hotel’s front door. A U.S. National Historic Landmark, the Santa Fe Plaza has continuously functioned as both the social and economic hub for the city since 1610.

Explore

  • Explore the Palace of the Governors just moments away. One of Santa Fe’s recognized U.S. National Historic Landmarks, this historic structure has continuously served as a municipal building for four centuries. It is also the site of the New Mexico History Museum.
  • Visit the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi nearby. This stunning historic structure was originally founded during the 19th century, and features a wealth of beautiful stained glass windows to see.
  • Travel to Loretto Chapel several blocks away. Founded in 1878, Loretto Chapel is home to a legendary staircase that is known throughout the country for its unique spiral design and impressive woodwork.

Experience

  • Experience the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. This remarkable cultural institution commemorates the life of this renowned American artist, who spent much of her career creating iconic paintings of New Mexico’s beautiful landscape.
  • Attend a thrilling theatrical performance at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Founded in 1931, this stunning venue has hosted numerous celebrities throughout its history, including Rita Hayworth, Judy Garland, and Errol Flynn.
  • Tour Santa Fe’s historic Canyon Road. Once a major trade route back when New Mexico was a Spanish colony, Canyon Road today is lined with many spectacular art galleries, cafés, and restaurants that are all worth visiting.

Taste

  • Savor a beloved dish known as Green Chile Stew. This outstanding meal consists of a delicious combination of roasted green chile, pork, and potatoes. The Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza’s own Ortiz Café offers its own take on this culinary classic called Green Chile Corn Chowder.
  • Taste another local favorite called Blue Corn Pancakes. This delectable dish is made with blue corn, which has been grown in New Mexico for centuries.
  • Enjoy some carne adovada when out exploring Santa Fe. Available all over the city, carne adovada is a mouthwatering dish consisting of pork that has been marinated overnight in red chile sauce. No trip to Santa Fe is ever complete without trying this culinary staple.
