We traveled with some good friends of ours to drop their son off at Woodberry Forest. Our friends had booked the travel arrangements and when we arrived at The Inn at Willow Grove, I fell in love with its charm. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and not mention the house. We were greeted at the door of registration with a warm welcome. The staff was extremely pleasant, helpful and escorted us to our room. That night we had booked a spa treatment..... All I have to say, you HAVE to book the spa. Later that evening we had dinner reservations at the restaurant. The food and staff were EXCELLENT! Everything about our stay was top notch and highly recommend for a romantic getaway or just a getaway!!!

We wanted a very special place for 3 nights and were pampered beyond our already high expectations. Friends had recommended Willow Grove for a memorable getaway and relaxing experience. My wife used the spa and said people were professional in every way. Our suite, 'the master's quarters' in the main house, was over the top with our private balcony porch (literally) overhanging the arrival circle driveway and under the column portico - see it pictured above the front door. Each meal was another culinary surprise - chef Andrew came to our table to make sure we were pleased. Food, beverage and every need were impeccably served whether in the dining room or our suite which we loved. Super trained, genuinely warm and professional staff worked as a team like a family to joyfully address our many wishes. Staff everywhere you turned allowed us as guests to be invisible when we wanted to be; and, they were attentive immediately when we needed anything. We learned at our departure that many staff are long term in tenure and see themselves as a family. There were small private areas to sit, drink, dine, both inside and around the grounds - we took our desert in a little outdoor spot with fire pits placed around the garden that provided warmth on New Year's Eve. We were able to chat with elegant and fun guests from interesting places when we wanted, and also found plenty of spaces to be separated from other guests when we wanted privacy. It was the kind of place we hated to leave.

Stayed in the School House. Beautiful cottage for a romantic getaway. The service is impeccable. Bell man greeted us in the parking lot and front desk staff thoroughly explained all the services. Bell man took us to the cottage and explained all the amenities. Heated bathroom floor - what a plus. Dinner was awesome and french toast at breakfast is to die for. Everyone took care of the smallest detail and used our name at all times. Traveled to Europe, islands, US and the Inn at Willow Grove is in our top three.

We so very much love the Inn. The addition of the Creekside cottages and the Spa just a couple of years ago are a big hit with us. We have stayed in many of the rooms and cottages and all are fantastic. Service is unbelievable as is the food at Vintage. Spa treatments are amazing as well. We will be back! Again and again.

We did not stay in the main house or the boutique cottages, but rather the "cottages" about 100 yards across the parking lot from the main building. In reality, these are triplexes, or pentaplexes, if you count the two rooms below, as these 2 buildings are built into the side of a hill. You begin in a hallway, from which you enter one of 3 rooms on the main level. Though the view is of an expansive lawn backed by trees, the near-constant buzz of steady traffic on nearby Route 15 renders quiet use of the private porches impossible. As to cleanliness, at $338/night, we were surprised to find small stains on the carpet and the bed sheets, along with several holes in the bottom sheet. The porch chairs were ringed in mold or mildew and apparently had not been cleaned in some time. Also, the window curtain is not a blackout curtain, so the direct morning sun brightens the room considerably. Bathroom suggestion: add one or two wall hooks, perhaps on the back of the door and adjacent to the shower door, so clothing and towels are easy to reach. The solo hook away from the shower and over six feet off the floor is inadequate. Speaking of storing clothes, is it necessary to provide only closet hangars that cannot be removed? Attempting to hang clothes - especially while navigating the sizable refrigerator in the closet - is unnecessarily difficult. Consider switching to "Wooden Anti-Theft Hangers" if thievery is that much of an issue. Finally, staff ignore "Do Not Disturb" signs when delivering morning coffee at the pre-arranged time. Instead of leaving it at the door or on the nearby table, they banged on the door on 2 out of 3 mornings. Inasmuch as guests know delivery times in advance, there is no need to disturb all 3 rooms on the hall.
