- Discover the historic Illinois Building that houses InterContinental Indianapolis. The granite and limestone building has stood in its landmark location on Market Street between Monument Circle and the Indiana State Capitol since 1926. Limestone quarried from Indiana was in high demand across the nation in the 19th and 20th centuries and was used in the Empire State Building and the U.S. Pentagon. The Landmark Lobby and the gilded terracotta cornice on the hotel’s rooftop are just two of the historic features preserved in the hundred-year-old building.
- Discover Monument Circle, just steps away from the hotel. The urban design was part of the city’s founding plan and later earned the metropolis the nickname Circle City. Monument Circle hosts year-round community events, including a weekly farmer’s market and a nightly Signature Salute to honor Indiana’s veterans.
- Discover the neighboring city blocks characterized by the work of the Rubush & Hunter architecture firm. Indianapolis-based Preston Rubush and Edgar Hunter were hired to design many Indianapolis buildings near Monument Circle. Bas-relief sculptures and bronze light fixtures adorn the structures, while tall, ground-level archways beckon passersby to gaze into soaring storefront windows. The duo’s influence in the city also extended to the Madame C.J. Walker Building, the Hilbert Circle Theatre, and the Masonic Temple.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hilbert Circle Theatre dates to 1916 and was originally a movie theater. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is one of the leading orchestras in the nation and has been in existence since 1930.
- Explore the Athenaeum, a cultural center located in the historic hub of downtown Indianapolis. The Athenaeum was built in the 1890s as a clubhouse for the German community in Indianapolis to facilitate civic programs about fitness, music, and education.
