Decades before The Dunhill Hotel would open, local architect Louis Asbury, Sr., was entranced by the great Italian craftsmen, who created cathedrals famous for their soaring, elegant rooflines. Today, The Dunhill Hotel stands distinct on the Charlotte skyline, an amalgam of American, British, and Italian influences, something those with an eye for period detail can detect. Opened in 1929 as the Mayfair Manor Apartment Hotel, with half of its original 100 rooms permanent residences, today’s Dunhill Hotel features 60 elegantly appointed guestrooms, a Penthouse Suite, and meeting space. The Dunhill Hotel is a celebration of the original vision of Mr. Asbury, with a nod to the needs of the modern traveler.

  • Look up at The Dunhill Hotel’s original façade from 1929, when it opened as the Mayfair Manor. This is the only historic and boutique hotel in Charlotte, and one of Uptown Charlotte's few remaining historic landmarks. The hotel's excellent location is within walking distance of art galleries, museums, diverse dining experiences, shopping, and nightlife.
  • Admire the beautifully restored Classic Revival-style architecture of The Dunhill Hotel. Original wooden or marble floors were retained where possible, guest rooms were configured to fit the original structure, period-appropriate chandeliers were installed, and downstairs from the lobby is a case full of postcards, photographs, and other historic mementos and memorabilia.
  • Discover The Dunhill Hotel's large collection of artwork by Phillip Moose (1921-2001) displayed throughout the hotel. The North Carolina painter and professor was a Pulitzer prize-winning Fulbright scholar who taught art classes at Davidson College and Queens College, both in the area. His artwork has been displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and is in the permanent collections of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

  • Explore Charlotte’s historic Fourth Ward. Journey over to the tiny Fourth Ward Park is surrounded by a lovely old neighborhood of colorful Victorian homes. See the stunning glass art collection in the Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery at the Foundation for the Carolinas, just across the street from The Dunhill Hotel, and admire the stained glass windows at St. Peter’s Episcopal church, just a block away.

  • Celebrate local farmers when dining at The Dunhill Hotel's restaurant, The Asbury. A tribute to the City of Charlotte’s Southern heritage, The Asbury restaurant celebrates the best of what the South has to offer in ingredients, technique, creativity, and, of course, hospitality. Enjoy deviled eggs and sticky biscuits as starters. At brunch, consider a fried egg with biscuits and pimento cheese gravy or the restaurant's twist on chicken and waffles. Menus change with the seasons.
