Amid the sweeping landscapes of Sonoma Valley’s wine region, Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa resides on land treasured as sacred healing grounds due to the abundance of mineral hot springs. In 1895, the young Englishman Captain H.E. Boyes acquired the property and discovered the 112-degree waters while drilling a well. Five years later, the Boyes Hot Springs Hotel opened for San Franciscans to “take the waters.” Though destroyed in 1923, the Inn reopened to much acclaim in 1927 with its signature Spanish Colonial architecture. Today, this resort places guests in the heart of Sonoma’s wine country, with modern features, including the Willow Stream Spa, Sonoma Golf Course, and a Michelin-awarded restaurant.
