A mere 40 miles south of Pittsburgh, the beautiful town of Washington, Pennsylvania is home to the George Washington Hotel. Built in 1922 by renowned architect William Lee Stoddart in the Beaux-Arts style, the George Washington Hotel boasts numerous celebrity-inspired suites, seven large and unique event venues, a restaurant, and a pub featuring local spirits, all steps away from the original location of America’s Whiskey Rebellion.

- View the largest remaining mural of early American artist Malcolm Parcell. Parcell, a former Washington, Pennsylvania resident, created six murals for the Pioneer room: The Conestoga Wagon, Pony Express, Pack Horse, Stage Coach, Lafayette Visits Washington, and Bradford's Escape.
- Celebrate George Washington’s legacy. The hotel was built in 1922, but it opened on February 22, 1923, on George Washington's Birthday.

- Scratch the surface of the history of glass. The manufacture of glass in Washington, Pennsylvania, was stimulated by the discovery of abundant oil and natural gas in the 1880s. Located in Washington during the early 1900s, The Duncan & Miller factory was the second—and greatest—of the six factories to produce this special glass in the city. It specifically created all kinds of glass goods, from window glass to fine tableware.
- Learn about the Underground Railroad at The LeMoyne House. The LeMoyne House, a National Historic Landmark, was built in 1812 and was a center of antislavery activity in southwestern Pennsylvania from the 1830s through the end of slavery.

- Jump and jive at The Pavilion at Star Lake. Located just 25 miles west of Pittsburgh, the venue first opened its doors in 1990. Billy Joel was the venue’s first national performer, and his performance generated such a tremendous response that a second date was added.
- Take a ride into the past at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum. A full visit includes a four-mile round trip along the scenic track, a tour of the Trolley Display Building, and self-guided exploration of the exhibits.
