The classic Georgian Revival architecture of the Mimslyn Inn rises gracefully from the rolling hills of the historic Shenandoah Valley. The warmth and charm of this historic property have been welcoming guests since 1931. Today, the Inn is fully renovated and offers 45 guestrooms and suites, a Manor House, historic cottages, and luxury cottage collection. The Mimslyn Inn also provides Shenandoah visitors the finest guest experience with dining establishments, outdoor pools, spa treatments, and much more. The Inn’s accommodations are perfect for events, as well as overnight stays, and it is in close proximity to all of the area’s signature attractions, including Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park.

Discover

  • Discover the classic Georgian Revival architecture of The Mimslyn Inn, perched on the rolling hills of the Shenandoah Valley. With an expansive porch with rocking chairs, it’s the best view of the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains.
  • Step through the large oak double doors and be taken away by the authentic hardwood floors and light fixtures from the original opening in 1931. Visit the Circa ’31 dining room, which has two large murals on the wall from the original grand opening on May 28, 1931, donated by a local artist after reopening the doors in 2008 finishing a multimillion-dollar renovation.
  • Climb the beautiful spiral staircase in the lobby, which has been admired by architects and visitors since its completion. An original piece by Mr. J.R. Mims himself, the blueprints were burned as soon as they were finished so the staircase couldn’t be replicated.

Explore

  • Explore one of the most spectacular cave systems in the eastern United States—Luray Caverns. Learn about this underground world of beautifully eerie stalagmites and stalactites discovered in August of 1878 by the light of a candle.
  • Strap on hiking boots and climb to the cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, and quiet wooded hollows of the Shenandoah National Park. With more than 500 miles to explore, a beautiful hike is just waiting to be found.
  • Hop in the car and roll down the windows on the Skyline Drive. With 105 miles, there is always something to talk about like deer, black bears, wild turkey, and a host of other woodland animals that call Shenandoah home and frequently cross the Skyline Drive in their daily travels.a

Experience

  • Experience the Shenandoah River in a canoe or a kayak. For the beginners, there are gentle rapids, calm deep stretches for swimming, and secluded beaches for a relaxing picnic lunch.
  • Support the local but small and thriving arts and attend a show at the Luray Performing Arts Center. See everything there is to offer, from Beatles-inspired concerts and country classics to vaudeville comedy, in this arts scene downtown.
  • Go back in time and explore the assortment of historic battlefields between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley that led the way to and from Gettysburg and played a prominent role in the Civil War. Plenty of Civil War resources and preservations are in the Luray area.

Taste

  • Taste the amazing flavor of a unique cocktail like A Dancin’ Fool or Devil’s Candy while listening to local artists in the Speakeasy Bar and Restaurant. This Art Deco-themed lounge inspired by the Prohibition era is located on the lower level of The Mimslyn Inn. The restaurant also features delicious sandwiches and fine entrees, including lobster ravioli, duck breast, and prime filets.
  • Enjoy one of the three-course dinner shows in the Circa ’31 specialty dining restaurant. Between wine meals, whiskey farm to table, and murder mysteries, there is something for everyone. Call to see what’s featured.
  • Taste some peach cobbler when out exploring the surrounding countryside. Beloved all over Virginia, this delicious desert consists of fruit that has been baked together with biscuit fillings.
