Shenandoah Apple Pie
The Inn has been serving Shenandoah Apple Pie since they opened in 1931. Apple pie has been a signature dish at this hotel because a key ingredient of the recipe is grown on the property of the hotel: apples! Residents of the area remember when the hotel would make and then sell the fresh apple pies to the resorts along Skyline Drive. The apples of the Shenandoah Valley have a distinctive tart flavor that sets them apart from other apple pies. It is known that Johnny Appleseed was a notable resident of the Shenandoah Valley.
