Originally built as a two-story adobe guesthouse in 1876, The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa has become the crown jewel of Southern California. This National Historic Landmark allows guests to experience the enchantment of a European castle with The Inn’s one-of-a-kind architecture. The hotel is also a California State Landmark and the heart of Riverside. From its grand archways and iconic domes, to its 20,000 sq. ft. of function space for events and weddings, the AAA Four Diamond Mission Inn Hotel & Spa offers a luxurious experience with each stay.

The luxurious on-site spa was ranked among the top ten on Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 50 Hotel Spas in the United States.” The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa Festival of Lights was also ranked as the “Best Public Lights Display” in the 2018 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, received Historic Hotels "Best Social Media of a Historic Hotel" in 2018, named “Best Historic Hotel” in the 2017 USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

Discover

  • Discover the breathtaking Spanish Mission style façade of The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. This National Historic Landmark features a unique blend of architectural styles and ornamental details, incorporating design features from the Southwestern United States, Mexico, and the Mediterranean, including archways and flying buttresses, as well as domes, a bell tower and a clock tower.
  • Explore unique spaces throughout The Mission Inn, which occupies an entire city block in Riverside. Marvel at the Oriental Courtyard, Spanish Patio, fountains, and the five-story, open-air rotunda encircled with a wrought-iron staircase.
  • Admire the vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, stained leaded glass features, and preserved fireplaces of the Mission guestroom on the top floor of the hotel.

Explore

  • Wander through the 40 acre botanical gardens in the eastern foothills of Box Springs Mountain, and see the more than 3,500 plant species from around the world.
  • Visit the California Museum of Photography, which has one of the largest and most comprehensive photographic collections in the Western United States with more than 10,000 vintage cameras and 20,000 photographic master prints on display.
  • Explore the California Citrus State Historic Park. This open-air museum features a visitor center and museum about California's citrus industry, antique citrus grove farm equipment, as well as high-quality citrus trees, which precipitated the "second Gold Rush" and cemented California's reputation as the Golden State.
  • See the Firebase Romeo Charlie at the March Field Air Museum. Comprising a full half-acre adjacent to the museum's education hangar, Fire Base Romeo Charlie replicates a Vietnam-era Forward Operating Location complete with helicopters of the period.

Experience

  • Learn more about the art, architecture, and history of The Mission Inn on a docent-led tour organized by The Mission Inn Museum.
  • Attend a musical or theatrical performance at the historic Fox Performing Arts Center. Built in 1929, this Spanish Colonial Revival style building in the heart of downtown Riverside, California, was the first theater to screen Gone With the Wind.
  • Experience all that Fairmount Park has to offer. This landmark historic park features a golf course, two tennis courts, a playground, a Rose Garden with a gazebo, and a historic lawn bowling court that opened in the 1920s.
