The Queen Mary is one of the most distinctive destinations throughout the entire country. At the height of the depression, the prestigious Cunard Line began construction on The Queen Mary, an impressively large and spectacular ocean liner that would feature four restaurants, two libraries, a spa, and a full gymnasium. The project endured the global economic pressures of the Great Depression and would thrive for several decades, ferrying celebrities and royals, as well as many World War II soldiers across the Atlantic until the rise of air travel. Today, The Queen Mary is permanently moored in Long Beach, California. Newly renovated, the ship is now both a luxurious hotel, special event venue and a tribute to the history of ocean travel. Guests can relax in one of the 347 upscale staterooms and suites, dine at the ship’s delicious restaurants, and take tours through its fascinating past.

Discover

  • Relax on the Sun Deck with its comfortable seating, shuffleboard courts and expansive views of the harbor. Guests on the deck have access to the bridge and radio room, featuring the original equipment that powered the ship during its transatlantic journeys.
  • The Queen Mary’s historic guests still have a presence aboard the ship. Learn about the Hollywood stars and British royalty that sailed on the liner or enjoy exhibits highlighting frequent passenger Winston Churchill.
  • Tour the visitor’s center on D-Deck and discover more about the machinery that powered the massive liner. Guests can see the ship’s impressive steam engines, propellers and the powerful generators that helped power its rudder, once the largest ever installed.

Explore

  • Embrace scientific fun and discovery for guests of all ages. The renowned Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach offers a wide range of species and interactive exhibits. Further inland, the La Brea Tar Pits and the iconic Griffith Observatory connect visitors to local preserved prehistoric animals and astronomical research, including a planetarium.
  • Explore historic and architecturally significant houses throughout the region. Highlights in Long Beach include several storied ranchos with vibrant gardens, and the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Hollyhock House dominates a hilltop in Los Angeles.
  • Dive into Long Beach’s cultural heritage at the numerous local museums boasting different periods and cultures. Visit the Long Beach Museum of the Arts, Museum of Latin American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Getty Villa, or the Broad.

Experience

  • Experience a day of elegance and glamour aboard The Queen Mary, where timeless charm meets ocean views. Join the refined tradition of Afternoon Tea served with finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries in the ship’s stunning Art Deco setting. Or shop for souvenirs and other treats in the on-board, world-class boutiques. Visit The Queen Mary’s original bookshop for a treasure of tales. The charming bookstore even offers a lending library for hosted guests while aboard the ship.
  • Experience California’s famous beaches. Long Beach Harbor is accessible by a quick walk or short drive. Craft an active itinerary of kitesurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding or book a spot on a beloved whale-watching tour off the California coast.
  • Embark on celebrations, events, and guided tours of The Queen Mary while on board. Alongside unforgettable events, The Queen Mary tours provide a glimpse into the ship’s history, decoration, machinery, famous guests, and even brushes with the paranormal. The Queen Mary offers year-round seasonal events, and select tours are accessible or available in Spanish. Galleries include historic and Lego scale models of the ship and an exhibit on frequent, famed passenger Winston Churchill. Guests can enjoy access to more than 20 exhibits and guided tours of historic areas throughout the ship.

Taste

  • Taste classic transatlantic flavors at the authentic British chowder house setting at the Chelsea Chowder House and Bar. The bar, with its tiled walls, decorative tin ceiling and lively atmosphere, offers various chowders and nautically themed cocktails.
  • Welcome the weekend with an elegant Royal Sunday Brunch. Royal Sunday Brunch is served in the timeless splendor of the former first-class dining salon. The mouthwatering menu features over 50 delectable dishes from around the world, including a bountiful seafood station with snow and stone crab claws, king crab legs, and a classic shrimp cocktail.
  • Sip signature Queen Mary Cocktails while taking in stunning panoramic coastal views at the 1930s-inspired Observation Bar. A stunning gem in Long Beach that is popular with both guests and locals, Observation Bar was once the site of the ship’s first-class lounge. The speakeasy-style bar today serves historical-inspired cocktails and features original décor, nightly events, and live music.
