Built in 1911, The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City has beckoned visitors from near and far throughout its history. The hotel’s stately sophistication and Art Deco style has charmed a steady stream of presidents, world figures, oil barons, dignitaries, and celebrities alike. The Skirvin family were especially convivial, and their presence created a lively and welcoming atmosphere. As a result, the establishment became a center for politics in the early days of Oklahoma’s statehood.

The hotel remained one of Oklahoma City’s iconic addresses for over 100 years. Today The Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City continues to showcase excellent hospitality through its word-class dining, lavish live entertainment, and unbeatable skyline views. An interior renovation brought freshly reimagined guestrooms that combine modern luxuries with the same historic charm for which the Oklahoma City gem is known.

The Museum, established in 1955 to preserve and present the heritage of the America West, features the world's largest collection of rodeo photos, barbed wire, and saddles.
  • Visit the Oklahoma City Musuem of Art. Located in the hear of downtown Oklahoma City, this remarkable cultural institution is among the best places in the United States to view contemporary artwork.
  • Travel to the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. It is the site of the Oklahoma City National Memorial, a three-acre space that encompasses two bronze gates, a reflecting pool, memorial fence, and the Survivor Tree, an American elm that was damaged by the blast but lived.

Experience

  • Experience the Overholser Mansion, a 1903-built Queen Anne and Chateauesque-style house considered to be Oklahoma's first mansion. Owner Henry Overholser, deemed the "father of Oklahoma City" by many, and his wife, Anna Murphy Overholser, commissioned architect W.S. Matthews to create a home that stood apart. It features hand-painted ceilings and walls, Italian light fixtures, and French stained-glass windows.
  • Attend an array of performing arts in an historic 1937 venue constructed in the Art Deco and neoclassical styles. The Civic Center Music Hall, initiated during F.D.R.'s New Deal as part of the Public Works Administration, today houses six stages presenting some 250 performances annually. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
  • Shop at to Langston's Western Wear, which has been outfitting Oklahomans for more than a century. The store, housed in a restored 1910 building, started as a shopping destination for ranchers and farmers and today is a beacon of boots, belt buckles, hats, and Western wear.

Taste

  • Dine at the historic Cheever's Café, anchored in a Art Deco building that was once a floral shop owned by then-local luminaries Oklahoma Belle Cunningham and her husband L.L. Cheever. It's now a popular contemporary comfort food destination but retains echoes of its past. The glass-walled, refrigerated case that once served the flower shop now holds wine, beer, fresh flowers and the restaurant's signature desserts.
  • Stroll the paths of the Historic Oklahoma City Farmers Public Market, which has been a food hub for Oklahomans since 1928. The venue itself features the state's largest wooden dance floor. Also shop the companion Antique Mall, originated in 1971, which spotlights unique collectibles, art, and houseware.
