Completed in 1886, the Second Empire-style Wentworth Mansion offers a fine collection of antiques and a sumptuous atmosphere. This oustanding historic hotel origianlly debuted as the four-story private residence of Francis Silas Rodgers and his massive extensive family. He oversaw the creation of the mansion's brilliant architectural features, including wrought-iron ornamentation, handcarved ceilings, parquet floors, Tmarble fireplaces, and Tiffany stained-glass windows. He even created a winding staircase that led to a cupola that still resides atop the building today. Truly few places are better for a luxurious stay in Charleston than the historic Wentworth Mansion.

Completed at the height of the Gilded Age, the Wentworth Mansion was once the private residence for a wealthy cotton merchant named Francis Silas Rodgers. Rodgers himself had a massive family consisting of 13 children and desired to create a stunning estate in the heart of Charleston that would cater to them all.
