The Williamsburg Lodge opened in 1939 as one of two hotels envisioned by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. To help fulfill his dream, Rockefeller enlisted the talents of Gilbert Stanley Underwood, a prominent architect best known for his national park hotels. Joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection in 2017, the 323-room Williamsburg Lodge welcomes guests with Southern hospitality and a historic ambiance, both which are felt in the furnishings that are inspired from the art of the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum. The nearby Colonial Houses are located in the renowned Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area and are furnished with period reproductions that give an authentic taste of 18th-century life.
