Restaurants at Appenzeller Huus – Huus Bären embrace Appenzell culinary heritage. Fresh products from the region create gastronomy that represent sustainability, variety, and respect for people, animals, and nature. The dishes are complemented by an exquisite range of wines from the one of the best wine cellars in Eastern Switzerland. Vegan options, vegetarian options, and special menus for children are available. There are exquisitely decorated dining rooms like The Jakob Schlaepfer Lounge and Appenzellerstöbli is part of the LÖWENSTOBE and the Lehnerstobe room is part of BÄRENSTOBE. Private dining can be arranged. Relax on the summer terrace of the 4-star hotel, surrounded by the blooming Appenzell countryside, including a view of the Alpstein.

BÄRENSTOBE

The charming BÄRENSTOBE is a fine-dining restaurant open from breakfast through dinner. The meals include fresh local cheese, fresh eggs from nearby farms, and other carefully selected Swiss products. From Thursday to Saturday, the executive chef serves a multi-course tasting menu. BÄRENSTOBE is also the setting for special events such as Sunday music or BBQs. The menu focus is on outstanding regional products, fresh ingredients, and modern preparation methods of traditional Swiss dishes. BÄRENSTOBE is housed in the resort’s historic guesthouse that dates to approximately 1751. The Lehnerstobe room at BÄRENSTOBE features a warm fireplace and artistic wallpaper by Jakob Schlaepfer.

LÖWENSTOBE

Guests can enjoy down-to-earth, traditional Swiss dishes served amid beautiful ambience at LÖWENSTOBE. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and serves regional classics. Special attention is paid to the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients from the surrounding area, ensuring even simple dishes fulfil the highest quality standards. Guests can enjoy the same menu served in the Appenzellerstöbli room, a building that used to be the village bakery.

TAVERNE

Open all day with the warmth of traditional hospitality; the TAVERNE is the ideal place for an afternoon coffee or an evening aperitif. Enjoy a selection of signature drinks, classic cocktails, and exclusive spirits in front of the crackling fireplace. Guests can also enjoy one of the fine cigars from the Cigar Lounge.

RESTAURANT QUELL

Modern brasserie culture, Swiss hospitality, and creative cuisine come together at RESTAURANT QUELL. The innovative restaurant serves classic dishes and shared plates and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Try Hörnli-Chäs, a traditional pasta with Swiss cheese sauce, or choose the Chef’s Menu to sample flavors and inspirations from around the globe.

Cigar Lounge

The historic Cigar Lounge in the 17th-century Schmitte (blacksmith’s shop) offers the right ambiance to enjoy a carefully curated selection of cigars in a quiet atmosphere.

Wine Cellar

The historic hotel’s cellar master invites guests to private wine tastings in the historic wine cellar. An exclusive tasting experience provides a rare glimpse into the historic vaults and the newer 350-square-meter extension. The collection is one Switzerland’s most extraordinary selection of old wines, fine champagnes, and rarities. Upon request, exclusive guided tours of the wine cellar are also available.

BOTANICUM BAR

At the BOTANICUM BAR, classic cocktails are reimagined with local herbs and fruits. Using refined preparation techniques, the bar team transforms traditional specialties, such as the Appenzeller Biber, into liquid creations. Depending on the time of day, drinks are complemented by elevated small plates for sharing.
