Established in 1891, Hotel Union Øye has gained great fame over the years for its wonderful location nestled high in the Sunmmøre Alps. Aristocrats and luminaries from across Europe descended upon the village of Hjørundfjord to experience this bucolic treasure. Numerous royals, such as Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany, King Haakon VII of Norway, all resided at the hotel at one time or another. Despite the great changes that have occurred in the area over the last century, Hotel Union Øye still radiates the quaint charm that made it a popular among European high society for the last hundred years.
