  • Perfect getaway

    by David D on 2019-02-18 05:27 am

My wife and I just returned from two days at the Carriage House, which is part of the American Club. We cannot say enough positive about our experience. From our arrival to departure the staff was outstanding. Dinner at the Immigrant Room was old school but the very best of old school. Our room was large and comfortable with, of course, the most amazing bathroom (it is in Kohler, after all). We took the shuttle to a fabulous yoga studio and the best equipped gym I have ever seen.

But none of that really matters. We went for the spa and were not disappointed. I had a great massage and my wife had an equally great facial. We then both partook in the "rain" treatment which is hard to describe so you should just go and experience it for yourself! Multiple hot tubs and steam baths, a nice pool and too many places to lie down, read a book, and relax.

Don't forget to head into Sheboygan -- ten minutes away with some nice places for lunch.

All in all a great getaway.

  • Old World Elegance...

by RealHungryMann on 2019-01-24 05:13 am

We recently spent a long January weekend in Kohler for my partner's birthday. She had a hankering to stay at a spa, and normally we would stay at Sundara in the Wisconsin Dells, But this year we wanted to give the Kohler Waters Spa a try. So naturally we were comparing the two spas all weekend. Here's what we decided:

--Kohler Waters Spa is old world ambiance. The furnishings and decor are like from the 1800's or something. Our room at the Carriage House was small and dark--the wooden shutters covering the windows did not permit much natural light to enter. In comparison, the rooms at Sundara are HUGE, with a screened-in porch, lots of open windows, vaulted ceilings and more modern decor.

--The pool areas at Kohler Waters are heavily chlorinated. My partner and I are both sensitive to chlorine, so after about a hour in the pool areas at the Carriage House our eyes were burning and our skin was red and itchy. In comparison, many of the pools at Sundara are saltwater pools. Sundara also has outdoor pools...

--I really enjoyed the hot stone massage at Kohler Waters. It was better than the massage that I had at Sundara, which felt rushed.

--NO ELECTRONICS are permitted in ANY of the common areas at Sundara. This policy is much more lax at Kohler Waters. This could be positive or negative, depending on your viewpoint.

--More frequent "free" food and drink offerings at Kohler Waters.

There are other points of comparison, but those are the main ones. I must say, however, that all of the staff at Kohler Waters, from the front desk staff to the bell boys to housekeeping, were all very friendly and welcoming. That being said however, I think that overall we are leaning towards Sundara as our "go to" spa in the future.

Thanks for reading this review and enjoy your spa experience wherever you go...

  • The American Club is the epitome of grace and elegance.

I love this hotel and it's restaurants. But take your platinum credit card. It is expensive but you get your momey's worth in excellent service from well trained staff. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, but exploring this charming town and Kohlsr Design Center as well as the hotel grounds. Save time and appetite for the golf courses restaurants and views!

  • Weekend Stay

    by GreenBayGal2017 on 2019-01-16 04:07 am

This was our first time staying at the American Club even though we live in Green Bay which is very close. It is the only 5 star hotel in Wisconsin. From the moment you drive up to the time you walk out, you are provided with excellent service. This 100 year old building has undeniable charm and history. Our room had an amazing spa tub, which we say in the Kohler showroom and costs over $8,000. I would highly recommend staying here if you ever get the opportunity. They have amazing golf courses as well.

  • Every Year is the Best!

by UWPPioneer on 2019-01-14 08:46 am

My wife and I have been making at least an annual trip to the American Club the days after Christmas. The only down side is that the Kohler plant tour is not available at that time. The room is great, the food is wonderful and the scenery. We spend time at Sports Core, one of the cleanest fitness facilities I have experienced. We had dinner and lunch buffet at Black Wolf run and that was great. Love the view and the fireplace. Take time to explore the building. Lots to see and the free tea in the afternoon in the greenhouse. We even had a personal note from the manager in our room welcoming us back! The personal touch is appreciated!!

    Dear UWPPioneer,

Thank you for celebrating the Christmas holiday with us year after year. Blackwolf Run truly has a one-of-kind dining room with amazing views of the golf course and such a cozy fireplace. We look forward to welcoming you back again and again and hope you have the opportunity to join us when the Kohler Factory Tours are available.

    Best wishes,
    David B
