  • Birthday trip

The Crockett is an older world hotel near The Alamo. The rooms are spacious but could do with a bit of an update. The free breakfast was very repetitive, only so many sausage you can eat. I'd go again though.

  • Speechless

I knew as soon as we drove up to the entrance of this hotel I had made a mistake. It looks dirty and unmaintained. Upon unloading our luggage and noticing the tiny pool (fooled by photos) across the entryway which was situated in the carpark surrounded by dirty concrete, rusty chairs with builders tape at one end that I most cetainly had!
    Checkin was brisk.
The smell in the elevator and the hallways was urine. After a day or so we came to the conclusion that as San Antonio still has the horse and carriage rides that maybe guests were walking through horse urine and then walking through the hotel?
When we got to our room I stood with my luggage at my feet and nearly cried. It consisted of a baby brown wall, connected to an adult brown wall, complimented by dirty worn brown carpet. It was so dark as it had no natural light, there was a window overlooking the foyer/reception area.
The bed linen was clean but threadbare- had tiny holes in it.
We were given a room next to the ice machine - lucky us! Do not turn the air con on - our 16 hr flight was quieter!
The bathrooms are small, clean and the water hot.
We did not bother with the free breakfast.
This hotel should be aimed at backpackers. There are so many beautiful hotel along the riverwalk to choose from. I can not understand the ratings given?
Positives - Close to the Riverwalk, comfortable bed. San Antonio is a great visit.
Overall, a huge disappointment. Historic does not have to mean dated and dirty.

  • Wow, fantastic Hotel

We had booked a room with a king size bed and ended up with a nice suite with a huge balcony just above the main entrance. The Alamo just across the street and just a few minutes away from the river walk. A very nice stay and we recommend the Crockett for your San Antonio visit

Our stay at Crockett Hotel was very good very clean comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok but could do with more variety. Ernie's bar is good bar staff were great. Crockett is in a very good central location.

  • Terrible experience - stay literally anywhere else

I have never left a review before in my life, but I feel a I came to San Antonio for a conference and my experience at The Crockett was awful. The AC in the room was ridiculously loud, the blinds let in so much light at night, the bed was hard and pillows were flat, half of the TV channels didn't work, the shower fluctuated between scalding hot and freezing cold, the room smelled like weed, the internet was slow and unreliable, the free breakfast was mediocre (I get that it was free, but this certainly isn't a selling point), and the worst part of it all was how loud my room was. The walls were thin, so I could hear my "neighbor" when their iPhone alarm went or even when they sneezed. Loud cars were revving their engines throughout the night. Car alarms went off multiple times each evening and in the middle of the night. This hotel was far from restful and accommodating. Avoid at all costs.
