We did a Big Band Dance Weekend at the Grove Park Inn. We stayed in a corner room with "panoramic" view.

Service, across the board was wonderful from valet car parking through luggage service, and at restaurants.

Food was good to very good but also expensive to very expensive, not good enough to justify the expense. The wine list was very good as was the selection by the glass. The breakfast buffet was very good, basic fare but enough variety to make it interesting for a couple of days.

The room was semi-European; it was larger than a European room but the addition of two easy chairs and table overlooking the golf course/mountains really used up the extra space; it was cramped. The closet was barely large enough for a two night stay although there was lots of drawer space and the night tables were very functional. The bathroom was tiny, a little more than 2 meters square - the shower occupied more than 1/3 of the space which made the rest extremely cramped; this could work for a business hotel with one person per room but not for a resort for couples.

I found the towels large enough but either tired or too low a plushness for the price. My wife complained about worn bedsheets. There were robes but no slippers. There was no turndown service but there were enough towels to compensate.

Definitely better than a "4" but definitely not a "5"

  • One of the most beautiful arts and crafts hotels ever

This is bar none one of the most beautiful arts and crafts hotels ever, and not overly expensive for 2 people to spend a few nights in the off season (family of 5 is a different story - just visit with the kids to walk around the gingerbread display and Christmas decorations).

I absolutely love this place!!! There is so much going on, yet it never feels busy or crowded! It is gorgeous and not a hotty totty place to be...everyone is so nice! The service is fantastic! All the way from the valet parking to the person opening the door, to anyone you ask for any help, everyone is so accommodating! The waitresses do a great job, even, serving in the lobby! The ambiance is, music, drinks, the fireplace and the open windows! Love the outside areas too...the fire pits and tvs and all of the sitting areas! It is just awesome! There are a lot of fun shops and PLENTY of choices to eat...fancy, bar, more casual, small plates, etc. We absolutely love the hotel...the accommodations are nice and clean and well kept! Cannot wait to return!!!
