  • Wow!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Grove Park Inn. Wow, we were impressed with the whole experience. When we arrived they upgraded our room. The historic building is beautiful. The Great Hall is a great place to sit and relax. The highlight of the hotel for me was the back dining area that overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains. We ate at the hotel restaurant, and then spent the afternoon watching the sun go down over the mountains. The service was great!

My first experience was great all of the staff was very nice and helpful. I changed my room with no problems I will definitely be back. I suggest that the bar areas start making daquariis because some people prefer them.

We had a great first experience at this resort. We had heard that the rooms were not the best at the spa was want to go for, but our room was fantastic. It seems like it had recently been updated and was spacious with a fantastic Mountain View.

  • Could be wonderful

Having limited time we went to the Grove Park for one night plus a day at the spa. The hotel and the spa were very overcrowded and we ended up leaving the spa immediately after our services to escape the crowd after planning to spend a few hours enjoying the beautiful pools and amenities. They apparently offer an unlimited number of day passes to people even after all the service appointments are booked. The spa facilities are beautiful and top notch but designed for a few guests at a time. The service was very nice but the crowded spa was not enjoyable at all. We also had someone else's room service billed to our room which took the front desk a long time to remove and I got the third degree about whether I was sure it wasn't mine. I was there less than 24 hours, I believe I would remember if I had room service lunch. I also paid for a late check out at 2pm so we could enjoy the spa (we ended up going back to the room to escape the crowded spa) and then have time to pack up before leaving but that was ignored. Despite having a "privacy please" sign on the door, the staff started harassing us constantly at 11am with knocks on the door and phone calls asking us when we were going to check out. Telling them at 2pm at our late check out time did not stop the harassment so we quickly grabbed our things and left and I was offered no compensation for the amount paid. The property and setting were both beautiful, it's a shame it's so mismanaged. One night with spa and meals was more than $1500 and totally not worth it. Try Primland if you would like a similarly beautiful setting but excellent, uncrowded service. You will miss the great Asheville scene and wonderful restaurants though.

  • 3 day stay

We attended a convention in Asheville and stayed at the Omni Grove Park Inn. The rooms were adequate, the food overpriced and of average quality, and the amenities were very spread out geographically with an upcharge for almost everything. I wouldn't give this facility a four star rating. Perhaps three, and only because they think the more they charge the more impressed you should be.
