  • So Beautiful and was perfect for our conference

by Horzemom on 2019-11-16 01:01 am

The room was beautiful. From the towels to the toiletries everything was over the top and above expectations. I was on the 4th floor and the elevator was not slow-I never felt like I was waiting for an extended period of time. The hotel staff was wonderful! The woman who greeted us for our meals was very professional and kind. The wait staff was also exceptional, went above and beyond for a member of our group who is vegan. The Breakfast and Lunch were over the top with choices and was simply delicious. Having coffee provided throughout the day as well as tea was also appreciated. The meeting rooms were very good, sound and visual with computers were great as well. I cant say enough good things, it really is a great place.

  • Avoid this property for Conferences

by JDCallery on 2019-11-15 09:57 am

Although historic and beautiful this property has some significant problems with the professionalism of its staff. Unfortunate in that food service is above average, setting even in winter can be exceptional and conference rooms are nice. The lack of professionalism among staff and nature of some of the service leads me to suggest strongly to avoid this property for conferences and likely even leisure getaways

  • Even better

    by Robert H on 2019-11-14 12:24 am

Had stayed before and left a great review. This was even better. The service was impeccable both at the front desk and in the dining rooms. Even the staff in the halls was very friendly. Breakfast and lunch are extensive buffets. Our group was in a conference room but had the same prix fixe menu. Everything was great.
Somehow, without asking, I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite. Wonderfully furnished. I thought that I must have been in the Stickley show room. Very comfortable bed with too soft pillows. All pillows in all hotels are too soft!
When you consider that meals are included in the price, you can't beat the price. Once you do the math this is a luxury hotel at a budget price. ( of course we were here off season)
Downside. There was a breeze in the bathroom even with the windows shut.
Unlike my last review there was coffee and tea in the room. Unfortunately, just like most places it was Earl Gray, not just plain black tea.
All in all it takes you back to an era of opulence.
I think that the time to go would be early October when the trees are turning.

  • What a wonderful hotel!

by airmere on 2019-11-12 08:19 am

This is a very special place to stay. It is first class and they treat you well. My family and I really enjoyed staying here. The heated pool - during November - was terrific. The breakfast is first class. We will definitely come back.

  • Itâs a Charmer

by pookala on 2019-11-06 12:06 am

A beautiful old property repurposed as a resort hotel on Lake Otesago. This is my 3rd stay and it was quite relaxing. Having a drink on the verandah overlooking the water is a simple pleasure worth experiencing at least once by everyone visiting Cooperstown.

We stayed in a fifth floor suite with a beautiful view of the lake. Spacious clean quiet and well appointed with lots of storage space to accommodate your clothing and other accoutrements. Be advised however there is no elevator to the fifth floor. So you have to be able to walk up at least one flight of stairs to get to your room.

And as much as I delighted in my stay here, there were a few service issues that I feel I should mention. The bartender on the first floor servicing the deck patrons was downright surly. And we had the disconcerting experience of having one of the hotel reception staff say they were going to make a dinner reservation for us which they never did. These kind of glitches just don't happen in really great hotels.

Brunch here is lovely and even with our minor disappointments I would still recommend this venue.
