  • Fantastic Place

by pandanotorious on 2018-12-11 02:08 pm

The expense for a room for one night is too expensive. I like this place I love it, but it will be a very special occasion for me to afford it. And making me have 200 characters is just crazy. I should be able to pick the words I want to use.

  • Historic Inn

    by Naphtali H on 2018-12-01 02:17 pm

A very nicely done historic inn in an area with mostly awful accommodations. My wife and I are regular opera goers, and had finally tired of paying $200 a night for worn out roadside motels. We bit the bullet and paid The Otesaga's rates. We are so happy we did. Everything here is first class. The free breakfast was great, and the service perfect.

  • Best Thanksgiving Dinner - Hands Down

    by topher2076 on 2018-11-30 12:03 am

We went here for their Thanksgiving dinner buffet and it was amazing. The hospitality and staff were top notch and the food was out of this world. The fact that the kids ate multiple plates of food without complaining says it all. They have something for everyone at their holiday buffets and you can't possibly try it all. From Turkey to Steak, Sushi to Crab and Shrimp, you can't go wrong.

After the main meal, don't skip the deserts! They had over 20 to enjoy, it was great!

While we did not stay here on this trip, this was our third holiday buffet and we can't wait to go back for more. If you are thinking of checking out the Otesaga and are unsure, stop in for a buffet. You will be back for sure!

  • Charming hotel, lovely staff

    by NSL1986 on 2018-11-09 06:33 pm

The Otesaga is a gracious historic hotel, beautifully updated while retaining its period charm. So many older hotels have been stripped of their character in the name of "progress," but The Otesaga has it all. The public areas, in particular, are like taking a step back to a (much) grander time.
Our room and bath were spotless, comfortable, charmingly decorated, had a tub/shower (not always the case in some older hotels) and had enough electrical outlets. The room furnishings weren't period antiques, but were very nice--and the room rates were very fair.
The rear porch overlooks the lake and is a lovely spot for drinks or to read a good book. We also enjoyed a casual dinner on the rear patio, which also looks out onto the scenic lake. The best meal however, was a gorgeous brunch buffet served in an elegant (and more formal) restaurant upstairs. We chose to eat on the porch, as it was hard to pass up that view, but the service outside was also as wonderful as the food.
The hotel was quite busy during our stay in July, but it was still a calming place to relax for a couple days. The staff was lovely--polite and hospitable at every turn. We certainly hope to visit again!

  • I don't often give 5 stars, but this is a special place

    by ChasD999 on 2018-11-05 11:08 am

My son was married at the Otesaga this past weekend. It is an older property, probably original throughout, but well maintained, and run to the highest hospitality standards. We worked with the Banquet/event planning department. They were very good. If you use them you do not need an event planner, they know it all, and will make it happen. We had a couple problems with not assigning seats to guests, or more stayed for the rehearsal dinner than reserved, and a word to the staff and additional chairs and settings immediately appeared. When we stayed late visiting after dinner, we apologized to the servers, and they smiled saying, "please, there is no rush, this is a special event". Breakfast, which was included in our room package was a blend of continental, prepared and cooked to order. Again first class. Lastly, the wedding had around 180 guests. The food came out perfectly cooked, at proper temperature for every plate. We had friends at the wedding who had such a good time that they were thinking of bringing their entire extended families back for a family reunion. If you can stay here, you should.
