A grand Northwest lodge, the historic 71-guestroom Crater Lake Lodge originally opened in 1915 on the edge of one of the country’s crown jewels-Crater Lake. No place else on earth combines a deep pure lake, sheer surrounding cliffs almost 2,000 feet high, a picturesque island, and a tumultuous volcanic past. A sense of awe delights guests as they enter through the main entrance and view the majestic fireplace in the Great Hall. Here, guests can immerse themselves in the history that surrounds them by visiting the Exhibit Room. The Crater Lake Lodge dining room overlooks the lake and serves the finest Northwest regional cuisine. Crater Lake Lodge is open from late-May through mid-October.

- Explore any of the 21 hikes of varying difficulty around Crater Lake. From back-country hikes to short, accessible hikes, there are several options to see the beautiful landscape of the area up close.
- Get a unique view of the lake and the surrounding area by taking a two-hour boat tour around the perimeter of the lake. A park ranger is on board to share information about Wizard Island, Phantom Ship, and other natural formations that were created thousands of years ago during the creation of Crater Lake.
- Visit Wizard Island, the 763-foot-tall cinder cone that was created as a result of the volcanic eruption 7,700 years ago that formed Crater Lake. Only accessible via boat, this island has a unique 0.9-mile hike to the 90-foot-deep crater at its summit.
Experience
- Fish for Kokanee salmon and rainbow trout in a magnificent setting. It is believed that no fish were present in Crater Lake until several species were placed in the lake in the late 1800s.
- Spend a day biking around Rim Drive. The complete loop measures 33 miles, and provides stunning views of Crater Lake and the surrounding area at any of the 30 overlooks along the loop.
- Go for a hike on the 33-mile stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail that passes through the national park. The complete trail stretches for 2,650 miles, from the Mexican to the Canadian border.
