America’s Original Grand Hotel™ has been an icon of summer resorts since 1887. This National Historic Landmark and Historic Hotels of America Best Historic Resort is located on Mackinac Island, where cars are not allowed and horse-drawn carriages are the preferred modes of transportation. Guests sit in rocking chairs on the world’s longest porch overlooking the Straits of Mackinac and enjoy the charm and elegance of the Victorian era with the modern amenities important to travelers today. The 397 guestrooms are uniquely decorated by interior designer, Carleton Varney, with one- and two-bedroom suite options, including seven suites named for first ladies and the Musser Suite named after the hotel’s late chairman R.D. Musser, Jr.
