Turn of the Century, 1896 ~ 1913
In 1902, local industrialist Joseph Stickney built the Mount Washington Hotel, a Renaissance Revival-style hotel with a distinctive white façade, red roof, and grand colonnaded veranda. The grand hotel stood at the base of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast.
