We spent 2 nights. The first one in a small but cozy room. It had no outlet to plug our phones into for recharging. Also there was no closet or place to hang clothing or coats. We were sent a review and gave the room only a frown face. We were called within minutes and they up graded to a larger room with a closet for no additional cost! We will come back to this hotel in the future! Loved the ambience.

Wow what a grand place. You can tell this hotel is loaded with history. Had modern updates like flat screen TV with cable. You actually still use a key to unlock your door. Staff are very accommodating. Dining area is grand and meals are delicious. If you like history then this is the place. Located in the heart of downtown an easy walk to all the shops and restaurants.

Quaint hotel. Room very old and in need a major updates. Rather dirty. Old mattresses and pillows. Toilet was unreliable and shower had unreliable warm water. Better than sleeping in the car. Also, visited in October 2020, many hotel personnel were not adhering to Covid precautions with masks. Hotel did not require guests to follow CDC guideline for masks and social distancing.

    Not worth the cost

Although this is a historic landmark and listed in the best historical hotels in America I don't think at the cost of the rooms it should show its age by the deteriorated state of the property. Both the interior and exterior of the hotel have peeling paint visible. Our room (307) had crumbling areas shown on both the front wall and the bathroom walls. The hairdryer had an obvious burn mark and appeared dangerous to use. The hot water supply was sketchy at best and the water pressure was miserably low.
The bright spot here was the staff, every member we interacted with was helpful and friendly.

My spouse & I took a mini vacation to one of our favorite PA destinations..we got there Friday night & decided to eat at the hotel at their lovely courtyard bistro..everything was absolutely lovely until a patron decided that she would NOT wear to be seated ( a requirement listed in several different spots..after some discussion the manager ( I think) Ellen decided to allow her & her dinner guest to sit on a bench and wait for a table..I asked our server to let the management know that I wanted the guest to follow the same courtesies ALL the rest of the guests were required and put a mask on to be seated..she asked the guest and the guest declined to be on her mask and yet they still seated her..right next to us ! I proceeded to go over to the table and vocalize my displeasure that she was putting is all in danger by not following the rules
.not only did the manage Ellen support her stance but she said I was making a scene..and when our waitress came back to our table she said she was cashing us our..
So the guest that broke the rules for everyone's safety was supported by the staff and WE had to leave..we love this place but we will never support your business again based on this experience !!
