Kālua pork
Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa continues to honor one of Hawai’i’s most important culinary traditions by cooking kālua pork in a traditional underground imu for the resort’s weekly lū’aus. Kālua cooking means “to cook in an earth oven” and dates back centuries. The time-consuming method is traditionally reserved for community celebrations and lū’au. The pork is slow-cooked underground using heated stones and natural insulation which results in tender, smoky, and flavorful meat.
