Guests can also enjoy The Brown Palace’s classic Afternoon Tea, which has been a hotel tradition ever since its early days.

Brown Palace Coffee & Tea

Start the day with a jolt of caffeine and something tasty to eat at the Brown Palace Coffee Shop. Located near the hotel’s main entrance, this quick-service coffee offers a selection of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages, as well as house-made baked goods and other grab-and-go food items. Branded retail items, including honey harvested from the hotel’s rooftop honeybee colonies, are also available for purchase.

Ellyngton’s

For more than a century, Ellyngton’s has been a destination for those who appreciate tradition, warmth, and impeccable service. Afternoon Tea

Few Brown Palace traditions are as in demand at its Afternoon Tea, which has charmed travelers and locals alike for generations. Held every day beneath the soaring ceiling of the atrium, this luxurious afternoon pastime offers guests a true taste of elegance in a grand setting. While drinking in the views, diners sip on organic loose-leaf tea and nibble on delicate tea sandwiches and house-baked pastries served with fresh-from-England Devonshire cream. Live piano or harp music completes the sophisticated scene.

Ship Tavern

Kick back and relax with a pint and laidback pub fare during a meal at Ship Tavern. The oldest restaurant in The Brown Palace Hotel, this vintage-style eatery opened in 1934, following the repeal of prohibition. With its seaside-inspired décor, including a complete mast and crow’s nest, an old ship’s clock, a collection of sailing ship models, and even Jamaican rum barrels, one would be forgiven for thinking that they had suddenly be transported to the New England coast. The menu here is just as inviting as its unbuttoned setting, cooking up everything from soup and salad to sandwiches and Fish n’ Chips (a favorite of The Beatles when they stayed at The Brown). Or for something heartier, try Ship Tavern’s Famous Prime Rib.

Atrium Cocktails

Drink away the stress of the day or toast to the day’s adventures with a delicious beverage at Atrium Cocktails. Underneath the stunning stained-glass ceiling, guests here can unwind with a tea-inspired or classic cocktail, a pint of beer, or a glass of wine. Accompaniments include live jazz or piano, as well as a selection of light bites and sweet treats, from charcuterie or sliders to pie and cheesecake.

Palace Arms

For a dinner with distinction, enjoy a meal at Palace Arms, The Brown Palace’s fine dining outlet. This museum-like restaurant offers an opulent setting unlike any other, thanks to its refined décor and an impressive list of previous guests that includes U.S. presidents and celebrities alike. While tucking into artfully plated dishes crafted with farm-fresh, locally sourced ingredients, diners can admire Napoleonic-era antiques, such as military prints and a set of pistols that once belonged to Napoleon himself.

Churchill Bar

A favorite of Colorado movers and shakers like politicians and business tycoons, Churchill Bar is the latest incarnation of bars and smoking lounges to have called The Brown Palace home, carrying on a tradition that began when the hotel opened in 1892. Today, this old-school, full-service cigar lounge oozes sophistication and elegance and offers a wide-ranging array of more than 60 cigars and a sprawling bar menu. During a visit, be sure to admire an artwork known at “The Sultan’s Dream,” which has hung in The Brown Palace since its opening. Although Churchill Bar is primarily a members’ lounge, it is also open to the public on a walk-in basis for drinks and cigars.
