The Griswold Inn, recipient of Connecticut’s highest award for hospitality, has long been known as one of the area’s best venues for celebrations. The picturesque New England charm of the colonial inn and Essex Village creates the perfect backdrop for any occasion, where guests can feel comfortable in casual attire or black tie. Choose the inn’s historic Hayden House for an intimate wedding celebration. The Griswold Inn’s variety of dining rooms are ideal for many types of private events, from small gatherings to business meetings to large parties. The outdoor terrace can also be made available as an event space.

For events, The Griswold Inn staff provides use of a specific dining room, a dedicated banquet supervisor with designated servers, white linens, votive candles, flowers, and a small custom sign. Limited AV equipment is available if required.  Hosts can choose from a variety of menu options and select wines from an award-winning wine list.

Dining Rooms, Tap Room, & Wine Bar
The Inn’s four unique dining rooms, Tap Room, and Wine Bar can accommodate rehearsal dinners, social gatherings, and luncheons. Each room showcases a renowned art collection and adds unique touches to an event. The Essex/Ward Room, The Library, and The Gun Room are three dining rooms best suited for smaller gatherings. The Covered Bridge dining room is the largest dining room and is ADA accessible. Please note that the Tap Room is not available for banquets.

Hayden House
The historic Hayden House is located on the hotel grounds just across the lane from the Main Inn. While it is not typically used for wedding ceremonies, it serves as an excellent space for bridal parties to prepare, as well as for corporate gatherings, events, and meetings.
