• Enjoy Southern simplicity at the Capitol Grille, featuring selections from The Hermitage Hotel’s very own Glen Leven Farm. Since opening in 1910, Capitol Grille has been one of the most beloved restaurants in Nashville. Capitol Grille is inspired by the bounty of Tennessee lands, and honors the recipes, flavors, and farming approaches that have been used for more than 100 years.

• Sip on a cocktail at the world-famous Oak Bar. Located adjacent to the Capitol Grille, The Hermitage Hotel's Oak Bar originally opened as a private gentleman's club in 1910. Its illustrious history began during the onset of Tennessee’s prohibition era, and the bar achieved notoriety and fame when it was caught serving teapots filled with bourbon. Today, the Oak Bar is known for its extensive 150-bottle Bourbon Library, one of the largest collections of bourbons in Nashville.

• Taste some amazing Nashville Hot Chicken when out exploring the Music City. The city’s signature dish, this simple—yet delectable dish—consists of fried chicken with a wonderful blend of hot spices. Perhaps the best place in Nashville to try some quintessential Hot Chicken is at Prince’s Hot Chicken, which has been around for several decades.

• Savor a local favorite known as the “Meat & Three.” This unique dish is a plate featuring a combination of meatloaf, brisket, country fried steak, or ham that is served alongside three side servings of vegetables. Those vegetables are traditionally mashed potatoes, black-eyed peas, and collard greens, although chefs now offer more modern varieties.

• Sample a delicious treat called the “Goo Goo Cluster.” A Goo Goo Cluster is a small candy that is made with a mixture of caramel, marshmallow nougat, and milk chocolate as well as a few small peanut chunks. Goo Goo Clusters are occasionally served as toppings for deserts, including cakes and ice cream.

• Try “Biscuits and Country Ham,” which is another beloved classic meal throughout Nashville. Consisting of ham steak and several doughy biscuits, the dish is a fantastic way for travelers to start their day. Nashvillians typically agree that the best place for Biscuits and Country Ham in the entire city is at The Loveless Cafe.
