The Peabody Memphis has a unique tradition of having ducks' dwell in The Peabody Fountain. This tradition began back in the 1930s when Frank Shutt, the general manager at the time, went on a hunting trip with friends and brought back live decoys (as it was legal then). Shutt thought it would be funny to place their English ducks in the beautiful Peabody Fountain and soon became a Peabody tradition that is enjoyed by guests today.
