With the original ranch and pump house dating back to 1900 and rooms built in 1945, history abounds at White Stallion Ranch. Originally homesteaded in 1936, the 3,000-acre White Stallion Ranch Hotel is an all-inclusive Dude Ranch that mixes Old West adventure with luxurious, modern creature comforts. The personal touch and hospitality of a traditional dude ranch is carefully blended with the service and amenities of a fine resort. Guests reconnect with nature, family, friends, and serenity, while exploring the unspoiled desert, rugged mountains, and majestic cacti that have inspired Hollywood’s filmmakers since the 1930s. The True family enjoys welcoming guests to the ranch that has been their home for over 50 years.

Discover

  • Discover the south wall of the buffet room and discover an exposed area of the original adobe block wall dating back to the early 1900s. In the main dining room, find traditional southwestern hand-peeled vigas and saguaro cactus rib latilla construction, techniques dating back to the Ancestral Puebloans.
  • Stroll through the dining rooms to find a collection of Allen Tupper True’s paintings. His famous murals are found in the Wyoming, Missouri, and Colorado State Capitols as well as inside the Hoover Dam. He’s also widely recognized for designing the bucking horse on the Wyoming license plate.
  • Venture back in time at the Trincheras of Los Morteros Site, Dairy Site, and Barchas Site to see traces of what life was like for the Hohokam from 850 to 1300 AD. Archeological tours are available monthly through Old Pueblo Archeology Center.

Explore

  • Visit San Xavier Mission, one of the finest examples of Spanish Colonial Architecture in the United States. Nine miles south of Tucson, this National Historic Landmark was founded as a Catholic mission in 1692.
  • Travel to Tucson’s world-renowned Sonoran Desert Museum, which features unique animals of the southwest, bountiful plant life, and stunning views of the desert landscape.
  • Explore the Presidio San Augustin del Tucson Museum, a reconstruction of the original Tucson Presidio built in 1775, plus an original 150-year-old Sonoran row house, and a 2,000-year-old prehistoric pit house.

Experience

  • Experience the beauty of the Tucson Botanical Gardens nearby. The public gardens connect people with plants and nature through art, science, history, and culture.
  • Tour the stunning University of Arizona campus and stroll down the “mall” where visitors find the world-famous Flandreau Science Center and Planetarium and the University’s Mineral Museum. Take a trolley from the University and visit the funky shops and tasty eateries on nearby 4th Avenue.
  • Head to the Reid Park Zoo. Founded in 1965, this 24-acre park houses hundreds of animals from frogs to giraffes. The Temple of Tiny Monkeys will entertain as the creatures engage in antics with squeaks and chirps.

Taste

  • Taste a beloved local favorite known as the chimichanga. Created in the 1950s, the chimichanga is a deep-fried burriot that is made with such fillings like chicken, beef, or shrimp.
  • Enjoy another classic dish called cowboy steak. Cowboy steak is typically a massive T-bone that is served alongside charro beans and thick slices of bread.
  • Delight in the Norwegian, one of the owner’s family recipes that combines layers of light-yellow cake and crème topped with a meringue and baked with almonds for a delicious delicacy.
