Discover traditional British cuisine fit for nobility in a truly regal setting at one of Appleby Castle's dining venues.

Appleby Castle Hotel Restaurant
Situated in both the main historic dining room of the castle and the Great Hall (with private dining available), the castle hotel restaurant is the principal dining space and culinary experience on-site. Relax in the spacious 15th-century dining room with silk high-backed chairs, large oak dining tables surrounded by candles, and a high ceiling, which creates a charming yet distinguished atmosphere. Encased by 17th-century oak paneling with a log burner, this room allows guests to spend quality time dining with those that matter most. With over thirty years of experience, the chef de cuisine creates food that is exquisite and pairs superb wines of the same caliber. Do not forget to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding, an English dessert invented in the local area of Cumbria.

Private Dining
Dine by candlelight in an oak-paneled and high-ceilinged room added to the castle in the 17th century. Whether here with family and young children or as a couple choosing a special meal, these spectacular rooms offer a private intimate dining experience. Five-course Taster Meals are available when this room is booked.

The Malice Scourge Tearoom
Situated in the Lower Old Great Hall and named after George Clifford's famous ship 'The Malice Scourge,' the tearoom is an excellent spot during the day for a wide selection of teas and a variety of local Cumbrian cakes.

Dining at the Castle Restaurant is available from Wednesday to Sunday from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Choose from an à la carte menu or a five-course tasting menu (only available before 8:00 PM). The bar is open from 4:30 PM.
