  • Get away

It isn't your modern hotel but one for those who love history. We had a nice room, was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet the next morning was the best meal we had on our trip. Enjoyed our stay.

  • Best ghost hotel ever!

Really great atmosphere and service. Very relaxed feeling. Always something different to see during the stay. For example, the cat and it's own door were really surprising. Ghost tour is a nice addition to the aura of the hotel. Truly enjoyed the stay.

  • Historical stay

Love the historical aspect of this hotel. Each room is unique with antique furniture and comfortable amenities. Keep in mind that everything here, except the spa, is really old. The spa was excellent.

  • Overpriced and disappointing but fun to reminisce

    by Maguerite J on 2018-08-15 07:58 am

We really wanted to love our stay here but it was disappointing. I have fond memories of this hotel because my mom worked here many years ago. The historical aspect and getting to see the place again was wonderful. I like how all the rooms are different. But I have too high of standards because of our many travels,
I guess. The carpet really needs cleaning and the bathroom was very moldy (tiles), dusty (especially windows, fans and the corner/cracks around the outside of the tub), and generally gross. For this level of cleanliness and renovation I would expect to pay at least $50 less. They talked about the amazing renovations in 1996 but they have not kept it up! Exterior of the hotel needs some TLC, too. The breakfast buffet was very disappointing. Not much to choose from. Frozen potatoes, undercooked omelet, missing some basics like oatmeal, more fruits, cheeses, etc. about half the options I would expect from a nice hotel.

The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly. It's just a case of being in the Ozarks, I guess, and not knowing any better in terms of food quality and hotel maintenance.

  • Dirty, not what it used to be

    by Bee-three on 2018-08-15 07:24 am

Everything was dirty, and there wasn't air conditioning in the main building and the a/c in the rooms didn't work. The penthouse smelled strongly of cat urine. I would have felt cleaner if I'd gone camping. The views were great, but the beds were horribly uncomfortable and adorned with tiny travel-sized pillows.
