  • Very impressed!

    by louisbL236FY on 2020-03-27 010:35 pm

This is a must when you visit Puerto Rico!
The resort is wonderful. The welcome is friendly and gracious. Hotel grounds are beautiful , views from the resort are stunning, and the service is excellent specially from the reception team. We were able to meet the front desk manager Edgard Santiago and he made sure all of our needs were met. It is a quiet resort and uncrowded.
The room was beautiful, tastefully decorated, and well appointed. It was quite large with a living room (and sofabed), full sliding-glass doors, bedroom, bathroom and two vanity areas. There was plenty of closet space and luggage area to unpack. The king bed faced the window so we had ocean and sunset views. From our 2 balconies we enjoyed the sound of the ocean.
    We would definitely return.

  • Beautiful Weekend Getaway

by AskmelanieK on 2020-03-27 09:37 am

My husband and I stayed here for two nights before a cruise. The property is very clean and staff friendly and helpful with a spectacular location. We had a jr king suite with a balcony and ocean views. There was bottled water and mini bar items included in the room, which was nice after our flight. The pools are located around the property, allowing people spread out, so it doesn't seem too crowded. Delicious lunch at Tacos and Tequila was even served in our pool chairs.

We ate dinner at STK which is on site, then enjoyed cocktails and live music in the lounge in the lobby at night. We felt safe walking outside at night as well to the casinos nearby.

We look forward to return next year!

  • Horrible customer service by front desk manager, Edgar!

    by shelleytay74 on 2020-03-25 07:55 pm

We ended up at this hotel on the day Puerto Rico was shut down due to COVID-19. We were informed at the hotel that we had to stay in our rooms and flights may become scarce. We were exhausted from an overnight flight, so we laid down for a few hours. We used two rooms for less than 9 hours and drove back to the airport to book an emergency flight out. When we checked out, the ladies at the desk were sweethearts and said all we had to pay was the tariff. That I completely understand, you can't get around tariffs. I've been home for a week and trying to get refunds on all of our travel, so I finally got in touch with Orbitz and they contacted Condado Vanderbilt's front desk manager, Edgar. He told them he would refund all nights but one. Now I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with this if it wasn't at FULL price $855 and the fact that we didn't use the rooms for a FULL day! So once Orbitz told me they had done all they could, I contacted Edgar myself. I went back and forth with him several times trying to explain that I wasn't asking for him to refund the whole amount of that one night room charge for both rooms, but at least cut us a break because we only used them for a matter of hours. He absolutely refused to listen to me and kept repeating that he authorized the refund of my remaining nights like he was doing me a favor! In light of this global crisis, I asked him to not price gouge me and he didn't want to hear anything I had to say! That is horrible customer service!

  • Very Nice Vacation in Condado Puerto Rico and stay at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel

    by yven100 on 2020-03-22 05:58 pm

Initially, I was concerned about vacationing in Puerto Rico because of recent earthquakes. However, the stay was great. Let me start by saying that the hotel is really nice, and the restaurants are exceptional. We had dinner at the 1919 restaurant. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth the experience. It was delightful and delicious. The service is at the hotel is excellent. Everyone from the team working at the front entrance to the concierge, receptionist, pool attendants, bartenders everyone is excellent! The place is immaculately clean. To provide an honest and balanced review, I will share a few items that were not to my liking. The first was that when this vacation was booked - we booked an oceanview room. However, that translates into a corner or side view, and most of these rooms don't have a balcony. Just be aware of that. We upgraded to an Ocean Front View with a balcony, so make sure you are aware of this when booking if this is important to you. Secondly, I found that on the lower floors can be noisy. When we switched to the 12th floor, it appeared to be quieter. Lastly, while switching rooms, my friend left her charger in the first ocean "view" room, and within minutes when we realized it, we called the front desk and housekeeping. However, the charger was never found. It was unpleasant to think that the charger just vanished into thin air in moments. Oh well!. Overall great trip! I hope you find this review helpful.

  • Best Hotel in San Juan

    by cmartinez168 on 2020-03-18 07:22 am

The Vanderbilt is my go to hotel whenever I come back to Puerto Rico. The service is spectacular every time, with all staff anticipating your needs. It is a true 5 star hotel.

Doorman/Valet: Bryan always went above and beyond for us, and made an effort to get to know us.

Tacos & Tequila Restaurant: Nathanael & Pao - skilled and friendly service. Not to mention phenomenal tacos!

AVO Cigar Lounge: Yolanda- fantastic conversation and service. A unique place to hang out and smoke a cigar while it rained.

1919- AMAZING prix fixe dinner. Service is top of the line. Great wine selection.

Both pools are very relaxing and great service for drinks and poolside lunches.
