Overview

Lodge at the Presidio sits in the historic heart of the Presidio of San Francisco, a former U.S. Army post founded in 1776 that today is a vibrant national park. It is the closest hotel in San Francisco to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

The lodge is located within the red brick Montgomery Street Barracks, built between 1895-1897 to house six artillery companies, a cavalry troop, and two infantry companies. The structure has been lovingly rehabilitated to preserve its original character while making it a contemporary launching pad for national park adventures.

The Presidio’s rich Native American Ohlone and military history is showcased throughout the Lodge with memorabilia and original art, found objects, and historic photographs. Large photographic murals “bring the outdoors in” by reflecting the beauty of the Presidio’s national park setting, including its forest and bay views. Gathering spaces include a fire pit and courtyard garden overlooking the bridge, an expansive front porch with rocking chairs, and a large dining lounge with a fireplace.

Guest amenities include complimentary breakfast, an evening wine and cheese reception, free WiFi, complimentary usage of bikes for exploring the national park, and more.

The Lodge is steps away from the Presidio Visitor Center, 25 miles of hiking and biking trails, beaches, the 18-hole Presidio Golf Course, the Walt Disney Family Museum, renowned restaurants, and so much more. From spring to fall, the Presidio also hosts picnics on Sundays which feature international food trucks and family activities. A free shuttle invites guests to explore San Francisco.

The Lodge at the Presidio, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2018, dates back to the 1895.

Fun FactBattery F of the Third Artillery Regiment was the first Army unit to occupy the north side of the building that now houses the Lodge at the Presidio.
