Golf

Designed by Jim Fazio, the course at Barnsley Resort honors the breathtaking natural landscape that originally drew Godfrey Barnsley to this idyllic Georgian land in 1841.

Whether playing for risk-and-reward at Hole 9 or taking in mountain views at Hole 14, the Fazio Course is 378 acres of championship greens deep in the foothills that roll and wind around the lake, forests, and gardens of the historic Barnsley Resort. The championship course has been awarded “Best Golf Hotel in North America” and “Best in Georgia” by the 2025 World Golf Awards. Beyond the championship green, guests can take on The Merger, an 18-hole Himalayas-style putting course. The miniature golf course is fun for the entire family. For those looking to improve their game, the Golf Performance Center offers private lessons with a PGA professional and TrackMan Radar Practice. From a single foursome to a full-field shotgun event, the team at Barnsley Resort can arrange private events to create an unrivaled golf experience for groups of all sizes.

The Location

The Fazio Course at Barnsley Resort sits on 378 acres of land originally designed as a southern estate by Godfrey Barnsley called Woodlands. Set in the foothills of North Georgia, the 18 holes pass natural wetlands, lakes, and wooded areas, some of which factor into play. The award-winning Fazio Course is known for its rolling terrain, elevation changes, and forested ridges and is made of Bermuda grass fairways, and Champion Bermuda greens adapted to the region's warm, humid climate.
