• Explore the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in downtown Baddeck. Now a National Historic Site of Canada, this stunning cultural institution chronicles the inventor’s time in the town. It contains many of the actual artifacts and documents stemming from the experiments that Bell tried when he stayed in Baddeck.
• Visit the St. Peters Canal National Historic Site. Constructed during the mid-19th century, the canal and its tidal lock system are responsible for connecting the Bras d’Or Lake to the Atlantic Ocean. This amazing engineering marvel is the only canal of historical significance in Atlantic Canada.
• Take a day to visit the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. Originally constructed during the mid-1700s, the structure was the site of two massive battles fought between the French and the British during the War of Austrian Succession and the Seven Years’ War, respectively. Only a reconstructed portion of this once mighty fortress remains at the location today. "
