The dream of enterprising businessperson Alf Skancke, the Røros Hotel has been in continuous service since opening in 1951. Skancke originally created the hotel to help boost the economy as the local copper industry began to decline. For decades, Røros Hotel underwent several renovations, including the addition of the celebrated Culture and Conference Centre. Passionate about helping neighboring businesses, the Roros Hotel collaborates with regional partners who identify with similar core values: integrity, quality, and creativity. Today, Røros Hotel maintains its historically high standards for providing world-class hospitality. While located just minutes from downtown Røros, the hotel provides an intimate escape from the chaotic urban environment. Adjacent to the hotel are many marvelous hiking trails to experience. Dozens of historic attractions are near the area too, like Olav’s Mine and the Røros Museum. The city of Røros itself is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. As such, the Røros Hotel offers a refreshing experience to connect with Norway’s rich cultural heritage.
