Discover Hotel Brosundet, which was originally a seafood warehouse founded in 1904.

Hotel Brosundet was constructed in the years leading up to World War I, which was an era defined by its economic prosperity, artistic expression, and political intrigue.

Originally a seafront fishing warehouse built in 1904, Hotel Brosundet is a magnificent holiday destination in downtown historic Ålesund. This marvelous historical structure features distinctive Art Nouveau architecture, as well as a wonderfully converted lighthouse suite. Renowned Norwegian design firm, Snøhetta, oversaw the recent renovations, which preserved the building’s original wooden and brick foundation for future generations to enjoy. And even though it ceased its operation as a seafood storehouse during the 1980s, Hotel Brosundet still welcomes the fresh catch of the day to its premier seafood restaurant, Maki.
