While this excursion may be a somber one, it is part of the country's history and commemorates the events of an unforgettable day. The 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 saved the nation from an attack on the U.S. Capitol Building when they fought their hijackers on September 11, 2001.

• Take in the views of the beautiful Bedford County with a self-guided covered bridges tour. Bedford County is well known for its 14 covered bridges, such as the Bowser Covered Bridge, Snook's Covered Bridge, and the Hewitt Covered Bridge. Built approximately a century ago by craftsmen who worked almost entirely by hand, these structures withstand the rain, snow, and hard use of the traveling public.
