Just as STØTT Top of Helgeland has been beautifully preserved, so has the culinary techniques and dishes served at Restaurant Gammelbutikken. The inspiration for the restaurant was derived from the old trading posts with hundreds of years of culinary heritage technique. Over centuries, merchants have served halibut, cod, whale meat, cuttlefish, dried fish, and fish soup with the upmost hospitality and generosity, which has become a tradition that hasn’t stopped.

Restaurant Gammelbutikken embodies much of the coastal culture of the island and serves dishes with the very best the island and the sea have to offer. Ingredients are harvested in nature locally and fresh fish are caught out on the Vestfjord. This combination creates unique and memorable dishes for guests. Restaurant Gammelbutikken is unique in that it is the only restaurant in Norway that still produces its own dried fish.
